*This data precedes Repsol YPF’s January 2006 downward revision of its proved reserves in Argentina by approximately 509,000 barrels of oil equivalent.
**The CIA Factbook, which is the source of this data, listed oil exports as N/A, without explaining why one cannot subtract 450 Mbbls/d from 745 Mbbls/d to estimate exports at 295 Mbbls/d.
Argentina’s electricity production totaled 83.3 billion kilowatt-hours (kw-h) in 2003, with consumption of 83.1 billion kw-h. The country exported 2.4 billion kw-h that year and imported 8.3 billion kw-h.
The country has 16,843 miles of natural gas pipeline, 2,274 miles of oil pipelines, 1,826 miles of pipeline for transporting refined products and 25 miles of liquified petroleum gas lines.
According to Energy Information Agency statistics, Argentines annually consume 8.3 barrels of oil equivalent per person, compared with 38.3 barrels of oil equivalent per person in the United States.
